What Are SIGs?

SIGs are groups of professionals/ Scientists/ Engineers/ Researchers organized around specific technical disciplines or interest, aimed at furthering the transfer of, ideas, research, and technology. SIG programs and communications are electronically facilitated by BISC Program.

SIGs Structure?

1. Chair
2. Co-Chair (1+)
3. Coordinators
4. Advisory Board/ Committee (5+)
5. Potential Members (25+)

SIG Responsibilities:

1. The source of information such as databank of who’s who in the field, the existing resources, software-hardware, etc.
2. Promote interaction between and outside the community
3. Organize conference, workshop, sessions, short courses, seminars, etc
4. Publication in form of Journal special issue, book, paper, report, etc
5. Actively being involved in BISC program activities including once a year meet with BISC program team during workshops at BISC-UC Berkeley, or other national/International events
6. Prepare a short summary of activities/year; this may be in form of existing links or homepages.
7. If for any reason Chair and Co-Chair could not be actively involve in future activities, he/she will inform the BISC program and nominate a new Chair/Co-Chair.

SIG Chair and co-Chair’s Qualification:

1. experience in the field or similar field related to the SIG
2. The subject of the SIG will be the main focus of the Chair/Co-Chair
3. Have enough network and experience both within community and outside community to promote, lead and provide vision for the SIG
4. Actively being involved in research and development and publication.
